By the week ending Oct 8, about 72% of cotton bolls has been opening in U.S., up 5% from prior week , down 7% from last year and 6% from prior five-year average, according to USDA. About 25% of cotton is harvested. Crop condition was 8 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 42 percent good and 18 percent excellent.
