Dull trading continued at the Karachi Cotton Exchange on Monday, while spot rates decreased Rs100/maund. The spot rates dropped to Rs7,100/maund (37.324kg) and Rs8,252/40kg. Ex-Karachi rates also decreased to Rs7,845/maund and Rs8,407/40kg after an addition of Rs145 and Rs155 as upcountry expenses, respectively. Naseem Usman, chairman of the Karachi Cotton Brokers Association, said that with the passage of time, quantity of quality lint is decreasing and when buyers find any quality lint, they were going for it. A total of six transactions were recorded of around 3,000 bales at a price of Rs6,400 to Rs7,500/maund. Deals were recorded from Khanewal, Alipur, Ghazi Ghat, Haroonabad, Maroot and Mianwali.
