Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 11,432,874 bales of cotton has reached ginneries across the country, showing an increase of 7.51 per cent as compared to the corresponding period of last year when ginneries received 10,634,627 bales , said a report of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association. Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association president Muhammad Akram said that the PCGA, the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association and the Karachi Cotton Association had jointly finalised the report. According to the report, ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 7,181,153 bales against the last year arrival of 6,849,887 bales, showing an increase of merely 4.84 per cent. The ginning factories in Sindh recorded arrival of 4,251,721 bales while last year Sindh had received 3,784,740 bales with 12.34pc increase. Textile mills have bought 10,218,322 bales while exporters bought 216,615 bales. Total bales sold out so far were calculated at 10,434,937 bales while 997,937 bales are lying unsold because some ginners are waiting for higher prices of cotton in market. According to the data, Multan received 282,342 cotton bales with 3.97pc decrease than the last year, Lodhran received 168,363 bales with 12.14pc decrease, Khanewal received 701,642 bales with an increase of 21.39pc, Muzaffargarh received 362,176 bales with an increase of 11.45pc, Dera Ghazi Khan received 436,513 bales with an increase of 26.83pc, Rajanpur received 447,244 bales with 34.18pc increase, Layyah received 294,084 bales with 5.86pc increase, Vehari received 578,481 bales with 52.38pc increase, Sahiwal received 271,221 bales with 27.38pc more than the last year, Pakpattan received 39,130 bales with 6.52pc decrease, Okara received 15,775 bales with 17.35pc less, Toba Tek Singh received 174,882 bales with 9.22pc increase, Faisalabad received 36,549 bales with 0.33pc less than the last year, Jhang received 21,232 bales showing a decrease of 29.83pc, Mianwali received 206,219 bales with a decrease of 24.94pc, Bhakkar received 85,097 bales with 35.88pc increase, Sargodha received 7,293 bales with 25.94pc decrease, Rahimyar Khan received 1,067,501 bales with 7.38pc decrease, Bahawalpur received 1,003,078 bales with an increase of 2.89pc and Bahawalnagar received 973,995 bales with 17.96pc decrease. In Sindh, Hyderabad received 251,684 bales with 10.64pc more than the last year, Mirpur Khas received 221,367 bales with 18.20pc less, Sangarh received 1,382,037 bales with 12.56pc increase, Nawab Shah received 348,299 bales with 5.92pc increase, Noshero Feroze received 373,675 bales with 9.92pc increase, Khairpur received 335,916 bales with 16.49pc increase, Ghotki received 383,951 bales with 28.29pc increase, Sukkur received 6,15,671 bales with 16.31pc increase and Badeen received 17,335 bales with 35.86pc less than the last year. Balochistan received 116,700 bales with an increase of 52.45pc. Total 189 ginning factories are operational in the country and out of them 326 are in Punjab and 150 are in Sindh. Total 997,937 bales are lying in unsold stock.
