Cotton: Net sales of 367,600 running bales for 2017/2018 were up 21 percent from the previous week and 9 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Vietnam (145,100 RB, including decreases of 1,100 RB), Pakistan (122,000 RB), Indonesia (29,900 RB, including 1,000 RB switched from Japan and decreases of 400 RB), Turkey (21,600 RB, including decreases of 100 RB), and Brazil (15,800 RB). Reductions were primarily reported for Mexico (7,500 RB) and Japan (4,200 RB). For 2018/2019, net sales of 43,800 RB for China (27,700 RB) and Thailand (14,100 RB), were partially offset by reductions for Bangladesh (6,600 RB) and Mexico (2,200 RB). Exports of 452,400 RB were up 3 percent from the previous week, but unchanged from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (80,200 RB), Pakistan (67,400 RB), Indonesia (61,800 RB), Turkey (58,400 RB), and Vietnam (57,800 RB). Net sales of Pima totaling 10,800 RB for 2017/2018 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 69 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily reported for China (8,500 RB), India (1,300 RB), and unknown destinations (900 RB). Reductions were reported for Japan (100 RB). For 2018/2019, net sales of 400 RB were reported for Egypt. Exports of 28,600 RB--a marketing-year high--were up 93 percent from the previous week and 31 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (9,800 RB), India (7,700 RB), Austria (2,400 RB), and Peru (2,000 RB). Optional Origin Sales: For 2017/2018, the current optional origin outstanding balance is 16,500 RB, all Indonesia. Exports for Own Account: Exports to Vietnam (3,200 RB) were applied to new or outstanding sales. The current outstanding balance of 17,100 RB is for Vietnam (7,100 RB), Indonesia (5,700 RB), China (3,800 RB), and Bangladesh (500 RB).
