Karachi : Dull trading was recorded at the Karachi Cotton Exchange on Tuesday, while spot rates decreased Rs100/maund. The spot rates fell to Rs7,400/maund (37.324kg) and Rs7,931/40kg. Ex-Karachi rates also decreased to Rs7,545/maund and Rs8,086/40kg after an addition of Rs145 and Rs155 as upcountry expenses, respectively. Pakistan recorded cotton arrivals of 11.577 million bales by March 31, up 7.88 percent against 10.72 million bales by the same period last year. Of which, 10.86 million bales were sold to mills and 216,615 to exporters. Currently, 486,963 bales are left with the ginners, a trader said. Fortnightly flow (March 16-31) remained at 18,944 bales as compared to 3,492 bales during the same period of the last year. Karachi cotton market recorded only one transaction of 400 bales from Lodhran at Rs6,800/maund.
