Karachi: Slow trading activity was witnessed at the Karachi Cotton Market on Monday, while spot rates remained unchanged. The spot rates remained firm at Rs7,500/maund (37.324kg) and Rs8,038/40kg. Ex-Karachi rates also stood unchanged at Rs7,645/maund and Rs8,193/40kg after an addition of Rs145 and Rs155 as upcountry expenses, respectively. An analyst said cotton season had almost ended, while ginners are having little quantity of around 275,000 bales with them. Of these, quality cotton remained in a very little quantity. Karachi cotton market witnessed three transactions of around 2,000 bales at a price of Rs7,400 to Rs7,800/maund. Of these, 200 bales of Sadiqabad were sold at Rs7,700/maund, 1,198 bales of Khanewal at Rs7,400 and 400 bales of Liaquatpur exchanged hands at Rs7,800/maund.
