Adilabad Purchase of cotton by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) will commence at the Adilabad Agriculture Marketyard from October 17, Marketing Department’s Additional Director P Ravi Kumar said. A total of 22 centres would be opened across erstwhile Adilabad following Dasara festival, he added. Ravi Kumar instructed officials to make elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of trading and to update software for preventing irregularities. He told farmers to bring Aadhaar cards at the time of selling their produce. He said that steps were taken for curbing illegal purchasing of cotton from middlemen and for prevention of buying cotton from Maharashtra’s farmers. Authorities of Marketing Department predict that 24 lakh quintals of cotton produce would be purchased through the centres this season. Adilabad Marketing Assistant Director Srinivas, secretary Madhu, Bhainsa Agriculture Marketyard Adellu and secretaries of other yards were present.
