20th Feb 2019 - Jogulamba Gadwal: Gadwal MLA B Krishna Mohan Reddy and Alampur MLA VM Abraham have asked managements of cotton seeds companies to adopt villages where cotton was largely grown and build Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) as part of their corporate social responsibility. On Wednesday, District Collector K Sasanka held a meeting with the managements of various cotton seeds companies at the District Collectorate, where he told the companies’ representatives that the government was giving Rs 12,000 to beneficiaries for construction of each IHHL and that these companies could give another Rs 3000 or Rs 4000, in addition to the beneficiary amount, so as to encourage the people to complete construction of toilets sooner. Normally, cotton was cultivated in almost 25,000 acres in the district and seed processing companies have been working with the cotton growers for the past 30 years. In view of this, they are being urged to do something which could contribute to the well-being of the farmers in the district.
