MUMBAI – Output of cotton in Haryana in 2018-19 (Jul-Jun) is likely to rise 5% on year to 1.7 mln bales (1 bale = 170 kg) because of higher yields, according to the state's second advance estimate.Cotton yields have increased to 432 kg per ha from 413 kg last year. Haryana is one of the major producers of the fibre in north India.Production of wheat is seen at 11.3 mln tn, down 8% on year. Rice output in the state during the season is seen falling 4% on year to 4.7 mln tn.Bajra output is seen 12% higher on year at 804,000 tn due to sharp rise in yields. Wheat and bajra are other key growing crops in Haryana.Sugarcane output in the state is seen rising at 9.05 mln tn compared with 9.63 mln tn last year.
